Christine Sheehan - Painter
Having trained in Fine Art at Leeds I taught for many years until I began painting full time in 2005.
My painting is inspired by what I see around me. It begins with an idea based on strong observation. Once the composition is established, then reality is no longer essential for me to develop the painting. I am interested in the effects of light and atmosphere which I create with tone, colour and brushwork.
I love the rich and varied countryside around my home in Bollington, Cheshire, and explore its moods in every season. I am also drawn to the ever changing sea and sky of Cornwall and paint there whenever I can.
Despite my other influences I find that I can return to these themes, again and again, in my work.
